How to remove rust from your tub

Rust is an eyesore, and especially embarrassing when faced with the prospect of houseguests pulling back your shower curtain. However, these guys have a solution for even the worst stains. On a recent Hometalk post, the folks from Great Home Painting, based out of Morrisville, Penn., describe how to remove severe rust stains from a bathtub.
Just where do these stains come from? Great Home Painting explains that "either iron-containing metals in your bathroom fixtures have begun to rust OR your mineral-rich water supply contains iron particles and has begun to stain areas where water runs." And if either scenario is the case, not even your porcelain tub is safe.

After striking out with cleaners like Lysol, Soft Scrub, and Comet, a few Great Home Painting employees found a couple magic formulas: either Clorox2 or hydrogen peroxide. They recommend to simply pour either product on the stain and let it sit. Scour the stain with a damp sponge and rinse.

Can't find Clorox2 or unsatisfied with the results when using hydrogen peroxide to remove rust? Try using a hack suggested by Ricks Woodshop Creations, that uses electrolysis.
For a more organic method, you can also try salt and vinegar, as recommended by Fine Wood Working.
